Eco @ Phuket 2012

Well haven published any updates for a long long time. Guess its due to emerging of other social media like FaceBook etc.

Guess i will do some posting of my older photo collection soon.

Ok back to the Phuket trip. It had been quite a while since my last trip to Phuket. My last trip should be in 1998 before my poly life starts.

So 14 years later, what had changed. Phuket changed a booming tourism island to a over crowded tourism island. Things becomes a lot more expensive. The food and transport is already Singapore price, and the international brand shopping is way more expensive than Singapore.

With NDP, YOG 7th month all around the corner. Thank GOD we are in the Digital era.

Manage to shoot some NDP shots last monday at the comfort of my own kampong.

Its feels great not to track a long way and camp at the photoshoot site for hours. And yet manage to enjoy the fireworks & mobile column at the time.

APRRC 09 is held in Singapore Sports School.

Its an event where more than 400 Rotaractors from the Asia Pacific Region to

meet and to have tons of fun. And as usual its not the event its the people who make it great!

龟岛的故事。。。

Kusu Island is one of the Southern Islands in Singapore, located about 5.6 kilometres to the south of the main island of Singapore, off the Straits of Singapore. The name means "Tortoise Island" or "Turtle Island" in Chinese; the island is also known as Peak Island or Pulau Tembakul in Malay. From two tiny outcrops on a reef, the island was enlarged and transformed into an island holiday resort of 85,000 square metres.

Located on Kusu island is the popular Chinese temple - Da Bo Gong or Tua Pek Kong (The Merchant God or God of Prosperity). Built in 1923 by a wealthy businessman, the temple houses two main deities - the Da Bo Gong and Guan Yin(Goddess of Mercy). The former is highly regarded as having the power to confer prosperity, cure diseases, calm the sea and avert danger, while Guan Yin is known as the 'giver of sons'.

At the top of the rugged hillock on Kusu Island stands three kramats (or holy shrines of Malay saints) to commemorate a pious man (Syed Abdul Rahman), his mother (Nenek Ghalib) and sister (Puteri Fatimah) who lived in the 19th century. Many devotees will climb the 152 steps leading to the kramats to pray for wealth, good marriage, good health and harmony. The shrines are also popular with childless couples who would pray for children. Despite misconceptions, they do not pray to the kramats.

It is popular for its lagoons, pristine beaches and tranquil settings. Visits are often made by ferry from the nearby Marina South Pier to see the wishing well and Tortoise Sanctuary. Afternoon picnics are also very popular. Overnight stay is not permitted on the island. However, most ferries to Kusu Island also take in Saint John's Island which does have overnight lodging.

Eco's trip to Kukup

Kukup is a fishing village turn tourist spot in a town of Pontain Johor Malaysia.

Although tourism had heavily influence the town, the colours of Kukup is still there for us to enjoy.

And for those who like Chek Jawa in Ubin, stay in Kukup is like living on the Ubin Broadwalk with the views of Hermit Crabs and mud skipper just out of the window.
